From an early age, I started taking birth control. I suffered severely from menstrual cramps, and my mother told me that the pill could help with this. The doctor gave me this directly. And I kept taking it, without ever reading up, questioning or informing myself. Because that's what 'everyone' did.

Only since there has been more commotion around the contraceptive pill in the media in recent years did I start reading up. For the first time in about 15 years, I read the enormously long leaflet, word for word. I realised how much important info I had been ignoring for years - and how inaccessible this information can actually be, if no one tells you.

I started thinking about ways to make the information more manageable and accessible - not just for young women, but for everyone. After all, in many uses birth control is not just for yourself.

This is how I came up with the idea for an interactive brochure with the most important information, information I would have liked to have known when I started taking the pill.
